I want it all. As greedy and presumptuous as this statement is, it’s true. I want everything God has for me: love, time, souls, finances- EVERYTHING!
I used to think everyone felt the same. And for the most part people want more than what they already have. We all have a desire to some degree to live, have and become more. I’m not talking about the kind of wanting which consists of simple desires cultivated in the land of “distant daydreaming”. I’m talking about a wanting so powerful it drives you into the presence of God continuously. You still yourself long enough so your spirit breaks forth and your greedy flesh is starved into submission. The wanting I speak of only comes from God. It is given to every believer at the rebirth of their soul. Once born again it opens your Pandora box of possibilities and limitless victories.
I wish I could insert a twelve step magical plan for here___.
But I can’t. So here’s what I know and maybe these tidbits will spur you on in your own race of life. Ask the Savior to open your eyes to the plans and purposes He has for you. Pray for desire and direction on your journey. The only way to receive His instructions is to take time to listen. Make time to pray and also sit quietly with the awareness that His Holy Spirit is speaking. Your best ideals will happen during this time because you are able to receive them in peace by faith.
I know this next bit of advice will give some pause…Ready…become a Jesus freak. Now, I’m not advocating you become a nut cake causing your co-workers to run in fright. Just pretend you are truly falling in love for the first time. Think of Him when you wake up. Go to sleep with him on your heart. Read his love letters in the Bible again, and again and again, whisper sweet nothings in prayer. Imaging Him everywhere you are. And let him love you. Tell yourself he loves you and believe it. Make Him your greatest and truest adoration. I promise you won’t regret it.
My last bit of advice is to surrender. Surrender to his plans totally. Develop tunnel vision so your eyes never stray. If you fail, try again. No pity parties or quitting midway. Just rise again. Plan to keep trying and reaching for more until your reach His Presence.
Yes, your flesh will shake and shiver as you are thrown into new situations. You will feel out of your element from time to time. Isn’t that what you prayed for? Haters will come and go. You will always feel as if you’ve bitten off more than you can chew- mostly because God always serves up enormous portions with leftovers.
Don’t underestimate the depths you’ll have to go to in order to reach new heights. And never ever allow complacency to hold you hostage. Imagine if God has prepared 25 souls to be led home by you? Reaching twenty lost sheep sounds awesome, unless you’re the remaining five. So…feed the hungry, as many as you can. Clothe the naked, encourage the hurting- even if it’s just a smile. Do it all and get everything in return. I know I want it all. I’m willing to fight for it. How about you?
